A California Judge has granted Elon Musk’s daughter the right to bear a new name as well as change her gender status. The move by Tesla CEO Elon Musk adult daughter to change her name and gender on her birth and certificate came a day after she turned 18 in April.
Vivian Jenna
Wilson filed the petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court and listed
gender identity and an apparent dislike of her father, as the reason for the
change, The Associated Press reports.
“I no longer
live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or
form,” she wrote on the petition, according to The Associated Press.
On Wednesday
Judge Rafael Ongkeko approved the petition in the Santa Monica courthouse after
no one objected to the change. Following the lack of objections, the Friday
hearing was cancelled. The court said a new birth certificate would be issued reflecting
the change.
According to
The Associated Press, Vivian will now legally use the last name of her mother,
Canadian author Justine Wilson, who was married to Musk from 2000 to 2008.
The couple
had five children but one reportedly died as an infant.
Must has
been married three times and was married twice to “Westworld” actress Talulah
Riley, according to The Associated Press. He has two young children with the
singer Grimes.
