Kevin Spacey denies sex charges, granted bail

American Actor Kevin has been granted bail after pleading not guilty to sex charges brought against him at the Westminster Magistrate court in London on Thursday, June 16, 2022, AP reports. Spacey is facing sexual offences charges against three men.

The 62-year-old actor is accused of four counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent, according to AP.

Spacey’s lawyer said that the Oscar-winning actor appeared in a London court to face five charges of offenses against three men.

Sitting in the glass-fronted dock during the half-hour hearing, he stood up to give his full name, Kevin Spacey Fowler, his birthdate and a London address.

According to AP, he was not asked to enter a formal plea, but his lawyer, Patrick Gibbs confirmed that “Mr. Spacey strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case.”

The Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram granted Spacey unconditional bail until his next appearance, a plea hearing scheduled for July 14.

The former “House of Cards” star is accused of not seeking consent before engaging in penetrative sex.

The alleged incidences is said to have taken place in London between March 2005 and August 2008, and in western England in April 2013.

Last month, Spacey said he would travel to Britain to face the charges and “prove my innocence,” according to AP.

In 2019 Spacey was questioned by British police about allegations by several men that he had assaulted them.

Mr. Spacey won a best supporting actor Academy Awards for the 1995 film “The Usual Suspects” and a lead actor Oscar for the 1999 movie “American Beauty,” according to AP.

IN 2017 Actor Anthony Rapp accused the star of assaulting him at a party in the 1980s when Rapp was a teenager but Spacey denied the allegations.
