Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Alaska on Saturday evening, according to The Hill.
The rally is
coming months before midterm elections. Trump is speaking in advance of the
state’s primary election which is scheduled for August 16, according to The
Hill.
He is
expected to campaign for a number of candidates including Kelly Tshibaka, who is
challenging Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R), incumbent Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R)
and former Gov. Sarah Palin, who is running in a special election for the
state’s sole House seat, The Hill reported.
His remarks
are scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET
The former
president has been at the center of the House Select Committee on January 6
Capitol riot where he has faced a number of damaging allegations but he still
appears popular mostly amongst Republican faithful who agree with his conspiracy
theory that the 2020 elections was stolen.
Cassidy
Hutchinson, a former White House aide while testifying at the panel said Mr
Trump wanted to join his supporters to the Capitol and lunged at the steering
of the presidential SUV when he was told by Secret Service agents that he can’t
be taken there.
She added
that Trump got into a fight with Secret Service agents and lunged towards the
neck of an agent, an allegation denied by both Trump and the agents mentioned.
Hutchinson
also alleged that the former President instructed staffers to remove metal
detectors from the Capitol to allow more of his supporters to go in at a time
knowing fully well that some of them were armed.
