Former President Donald Trump has postponed his Arizona rally earlier scheduled for Saturday over the death of his ex-wife Ivana who is the mother of his children Trump Jr., Eric and Ivanka.
Ivana died on Thursday at the age of 73. The rally will now hold next Friday to allow the family to mourn her death.
Mr Trump was
slated to hold the rally in support of several Republican contenders vying for
the party ticket in the August primary including gubernatorial hopeful Kari
Lakem, Senate contender Blake Masters, and secretary of state candidate Mark
Finchem, Washington Examiner reports.
"Out of
love and respect for Ivana, our big Arizona Rally will be postponed until next
Friday," he wrote in a post on his social media platform Truth Social,
according to Washington Examiner.
The rally
was set to take place in Prescott Valley, Arizona to bolster his allies ahead
of the August 2 primary election.
Trump has
been peddling a false voter fraud narrative as reason for his election loss to
Joe Biden and a number of his supporters and allies are spreading the
conspiracy theory. Washington Examiner reported that in Arizona both Jake and
Finchem have disagreed with claims the 2020 elections were illegitimate while
Masters has blasted the role of Big Tech in the election.
Arizona is
fast becoming a swing state even though it is considered conservative. The
state massively voted for Trump in the 2020 elections.
Ivana Trump
who died at her Manhattan home was married to Donald Trump from 1977 to 1992
and they had three children – Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric.
The
Associated Press reported that the medical examiner’s office said Friday that
it ruled Ivana Trump’s death and accident caused by blunt impact injuries to
the torso.
The police
were looking into whether Ivana had fallen down the stairs, two people familiar
with the matter told The Associated Press on Thursday.
