Police in the U.S. state of Hawaii Wednesday arrested social media model Courtney Clenney on a charge of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon, The Associated Press reports.
In a
statement, Hawaii County police said they assisted the U.S. Marshals Service
when they arrested the 26-year-old in Laupahoehoe, located on the Big Island,
according to The Associated Press.
The suspect
is held at the East Hawaii Detention Center as she awaits her first court
appearance in Hilo District Court on Thursday, The outlet quoted police as
saying.
The Miami
Herald reported that Clenney is accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend to
death in April.
Frank
Prieto, Clenney’s defense lawyer told the Miami Herald that she was in Hawaii
while in rehabilitation for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder.
