A federal judge Friday unveiled a detailed inventory of items seized during a raid by FBI agents at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on August 8. Some of the documents recovered were “top secret” records as well as empty folders with classified banners on them, The Washington Times cited a newly revealed inventory of seized items.
Judge Aileen
Cannon ordered the release of the detailed property inventory during a court
proceeding Thursday, The Washington Times reports. The judge is hearing a case
by Trump requesting an independent “special master” to review the boxes of
materials seized in the Palm Beach, Florida raid.
What documents were seized from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate?
The unsealed
inventory details 33 separate boxes and collections of documents seized during
the search with some of the items having certain descriptions such as “Documents
from Office” and “Book,” according to The Washington Times.
The inventory
also lists hundreds of documents without classification markings, newspaper and
magazine articles, photographs and items described by the FBI as “Article of
Clothing/Gift Item.”
Others items
seized include 43 empty folders with classification markings and 28 empty
folders labeled “Return to Staff Secretary.”
The inventory
also lists several line items of U.S. government documents with classification
markings ranging from confidential to top secret.
Majority of
the items seized were from a storage room. Several boxes, including some
containing classified documents were seized from an office on the property.
The former
president is facing criminal investigation for violations of the Espionage Act
and other federal crimes relating to the mishandling or removal of classified
government documents.
Mr. Trump
said he had declassified the documents before taking them to his Palm Beach,
Florida estate.
