Queen Elizabeth II is being placed on medical supervision over concerns about her deteriorating health, Buckingham palace has said. In a statement Buckingham palace said doctors are “concerned for Her Majesty’s health,” as members of her family traveled to be with the 96-year-old monarch in Scotland, according to The Associated Press.
“Following
further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her
Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,”
the palace said, The Associated Press reported.
The monarch
will remain at Balmoral Castle in Scotland until further notice, but doctors describe
her condition as being “comfortable,” the Washington Examiner cited a statement
by the palace.
On
Wednesday, the queen canceled a meeting of her Privy Council and was advised to
rest, according to The Associated Press. She had earlier presided over the ceremonial
handover of power to new Prime Minister Liz Truss at her summer residence in
Scotland at Balmoral Castle, according to The Associated Press.
“After a
full day yesterday, Her Majesty has this afternoon accepted doctors’ advice to
rest. This means that the Privy Council meeting that had been due to take place
this evening will be rearranged,” a palace official said, the Washington
Examiner reported.
Queen
Elizabeth has missed several events over the last several months due what
officials call “episodic mobility problems,” including the State Opening of
Parliament in May, according to the Washington Examiner.
