The 42-year-old man who “violently” assaulted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi at the family’s San Francisco home in California made a number of post that amplified Q’Anon conspiracy theory before his attacks.
David DePape
who entered the California Democrat’s home through a sliding door, repeatedly
struck Paul Pelosi with a hammer after asking “Where is Nancy.”
Depape’s post
was sometimes racist while some doubted the integrity of the 2020 presidential
elections which President Joe Biden won.
Officers seized
DePape after Paul Pelosi called 911 following the intrusion.
A post on
August 24 with the title “Q,”had a scatological collection of memes that
included photos of the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein with references to
QAnon, the unfounded pro-Trump conspiracy theory that claims the country is run
by a deep state cabal of child sex traffickers, satanic pedophiles and
baby-eating cannibals, according to The Associated Post.
“Big Brother
has deemed doing your own research as a thought crime,” read a post that
appeared to blend references to QAnon with George Orwell’s dystopian novel
“1984,” The Associated Press reported.
A similar
post on August 25 had the title “Gun Rights,” saying, “You no longer have
rights. Your basic human rights hinder Big Brothers ability to enslave and
control you in a complete and totalizing way,” according to The Associated
Press.
Another post
under Depape’s name on a different site amplified false claims about COVID vaccines
and wearing masks, questioned the theory of climate change as well as
illustrate a zombified Hilary Clinton dining on human flesh.
Other posts
defended former President Donald Trump and Ye, an American rapper formally
known as Kanye West who was recently kicked out of twitter and Instagram over
anti-Semitic remarks.
The writer
also said in a September 27 post that journalists who refused Trump’s baseless
widespread voter fraud claims in the 2020 presidential election “should be
dragged straight out into the street and shot.”
Other posts
claimed the Jews financed Hitler’s rise to power in Germany and that Russia’s
war in Ukraine was an anti-Semitic plot.
The attack
is believed to have occurred at about 2:27 a.m., according to a tweet by Sgt.
Adam Lobsinger of the San Francisco Police Department who said officers were
responding to a break in.
Pelosi
suffered blunt force trauma to his head and body and was treated for a number
of injuries and bruising after the attacker smashed him with a hammer, according
to The Associated Press.
Depape is
facing multiple felony charges including burglary, assault with a deadly
weapon, elder abuse and attempted murder.
