In his bid to sing the National anthem before Friday night’s World Series opener, Grammy-nominated singer Eric Burton faltered, as he rewrote “The Star-Spangled Banner” in disharmony.

As players and staff lined up on the field for the traditional per-game ceremony during the Houston’s World Series clash with Philadelphia, which featured “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the leader of the Black Pumas band flubbed in the second line saying, “What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last streaming” instead of “gleaming.”

He got back on steam with the line before game one Friday night, saying “Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,” but instead of saying “O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming?” he backtracked and said “What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last” before again singing “streaming” instead of “gleaming.”

Burton who performed in 2021 during President Joe Biden’s inauguration quickly turned his performance into a nightmare as a giant American flag was held.

“And the rocket’s red glare, the bomb bursting in air,” Burton sang correctly after series of flubs.
