Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West was Wednesday booted out of California-based headquarters of athletic shoemaker Skechers. It’s not clear if the decision was related to his recent anti-Semitic comments on Twitter and Instagram but it appears Ye entered the facility unannounced.
The company
said Ye “arrived unannounced and without invitation” at Skechers corporate
headquarters in Manhattan Beach, southwest of Los Angeles, The Associated Press
reported.
“Considering
Ye was engaged in unauthorized filming, two Skechers executives escorted him
and his party from the building after a brief conversation,” according to a
company statement.
The company
said it would not do business with Ye over his recent anti-Semitic comments on
social media.
“Skechers is
not considering and has no intention of working with West,” the company said.
“We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any
other form of hate speech.”
On Tuesday
Adidas which produced the Yeezy brand of sport wears said it was ending its
partnership deal with Ye in relation to his anti-Semitic remarks.
Ye has been
suspended on both Twitter and Instagram over his inciting anti-Semitic remarks.
The decision
by the German sportswear maker would prove costly for Ye in terms of earnings
as he struggles with deteriorating endorsements and cuts in business deals.
Adidas will
also suffer as a result of the decision following and acknowledgement it would
lose up to 250 million euros ($246 million) in net income earnings this year as
it prepares to stop the production of its Yeezy products and would also stop
payments to Ye and his companies, according to The Associated Press.
On Tuesday
shares of the company tanked by over 2% following the announcement.
“Adidas does
not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the company said
in a statement Tuesday, according to The Associated Press. “Ye’s recent
comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they
violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and
fairness.”
