of injuries and bruising after the attacker smashed him with a hammer,
according to The Associated Press.
Paul Pelosi
was "admitted to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital where he
underwent successful surgery to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to
his right arm and hands. His doctors expect a full recovery," according to
a spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi, the Washington Examiner reported.
He underwent
surgery to repair his skull after 42-year-old DePape struck him with a hammer,
leaving him with severe injuries including to his hand and arm.
In a
statement Thursday, Nancy Pelosi said her husband “remains under doctors’ care
as he continues to progress on a long recovery process and convalescence,”
according to The Hill.
“The Pelosi
family is thankful for the beautiful outpouring of love, support and prayers
from around the world. Paul is grateful to the 911 operator, emergency
responders, trauma care team, ICU staff, and the entire ZSFGH medical staff for
their excellent and compassionate life-saving treatment he received after the
violent assault in our home. Paul remains under doctors’ care as he continues
to progress on a long recovery process and convalescence. He is now home
surrounded by his family who request privacy,” the speaker said, according to
the Washington Examiner.
DePape

armed with a hammer and zip ties, the federal complaint revealed. He
immediately restrained Paul Pelosi when he discovered that Nancy Pelosi was not
at home. But Pelosi escaped and called the police after convincing him he
wanted to use the bathroom.
