A teenage has been arrested in a suspected murder case of drill rapper Moneygang Vontae. The incidence is said to have taken place at a Bronx pharmacy on June 8.

The Los Angeles rapper Avanti Frowner, 27, who rapped under the stage name Moneygang Vontae, was in New York City to scout locations for a music video when five men cornered him at the Amazing Community Pharmacy on E. Tremont Ave. near Arthur Ave. in Tremont, cops said, according to New York Daily News.

The suspect River Jones, 18, was charged with murder in the deadly attack on the rapper.

Jones was arrested by NYPD’s Bronx Warrants Squad on Thursday at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York Daily News quoted police sources to have said. Cops said Jones lives at a school dorm.

According to New York Daily News, Vontae and his friend from California were buying over-the-counter eye drops at the pharmacy when two of the five suspects approached and asked if he wanted to buy some wee, police sources said.

The rapper who said no was told to hand over his property and his gold chain, which carried his signature nameplate after two other assailants joined in, cops said.

A struggle ensued between the rapper and the suspects. One of the suspects pulled up a gun and shot the drill rapper several times. Vontae dropped and the gunman fired another shot into his chest and fled with the “Moneygang Vontae” nameplate he wore on his neck, cops said, according to New York Daily News.

It is not clear if Jones is believed to be the shooter. He would be arraigned at the Bronx Criminal Court.
