Multiple deaths have been reported in China as severe heat wave and flooding ravages several parts of China.
Record-high
temperatures have been reported in Zhejiang province, just east of the global
business hub of Shanghai, reaching above 42 degrees Celsius (107 degrees
Fahrenheit) on Wednesday, The Associated Press reports.
Jiangsu and
Fujian are facing similar situations while several persons have been
hospitalized in Henan, Sichuan and Heilongjiang further inland. The number of
deaths is not yet confirmed.
As of midday
Wednesday three people were reported killed and five missing in Sichuan
province’s Pingwu county following severe flooding that hit the area, according
to The Associated Press.
In the
northeast, one person was reported dead and eight missing in Heilongjiang.
The flooding
have displaced hundreds of thousands of people in south-central China.
