American veterans who served in Afghanistan have said that U.S. Southern border is a “war zone” and is worse than Afghanistan in terms of the numbers of dead bodies found in the area.
A Veteran who served in Afghanistan when the country fell to the Taliban, now a resident of Texas told lawmakers that he has seen more dead bodies along the U.S.-Mexico border than he did during his tour of duty, The Washington Times reports.
The outlet
reported that Sen. Joni Ernst, an Iowa Republican who served in Iran in 2003 and
2004, met the man during a trip to the border late last week and recounted his
story to the Washington Times. She noted that the border was a “war zone” and
then talked with the Marine who make the same comparison
“He said, ‘I
feel like I am in Afghanistan all over again.’ He said, ‘I have seen more dead
bodies here’ than he did in Afghanistan. He said, ‘Replace the Taliban with the
cartel’ because they are basically the same type of organization: They control
all of the land there, they control who goes in, who goes out,” Ms. Ernst said,
according to Washington Times.
The Biden administration
is completely helpless at the Mexican border with the United States where drug
gangs and people smugglers are having a field day. Thousands of illegal
migrants pour into the border on a daily basis.
Ernst was
part of a delegation of senators who made the trip to the border to observe the
mess that now characterize the border.
Over 200,000 illegal border jumpers arrested in June
US
Department of Homeland Security arrested six suspects linked to terrorism at
the southern border in June, according to data released by Customs and Border
Protection last Friday.
More than
200,000 illegal border jumpers were recorded in June, making the fourth
straight month that the Biden administration continues to see advances in
illegal crossing into the United States.
