A fire broke out in a skyscraper under construction in downtown Atlanta Wednesday near Centennial Olympic Park, The Associated Press reports.
The fire
which started on the rooftop, sent visible flames and a dark column of smoke
out of the roof of the 32-storey tower as firefighters battled the blaze and
finally brought it under control, according to The Associated Press.
The tower is
called The Metropolitan at Atlanta, and is proposed to be an 835-bed, 265-unit
resident, targeted at Georgia State University students, according to The
Associated Press.
The construction
work is worth $56 million, The Associated Press cited permits filed in 2021
when construction work began.
Completion
date for the project is August 2023. Much of the construction work remains unfinished.
