Ex-lawyer to former President Donald Trump, Michael Cohen said his formal boss absolutely has no “guts” to testify before the January 6 panel investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on Congress.

When asked by CNN’s Jim Acosta Saturday if Trump “has the guts” to appear before the panel after the committee unanimously voted to subpoena him for documents and testimony, Cohen laughed, according to the Washington Examiner.

"The answer to that is absolutely not," Cohen said, according to the Washington Examiner. "He’s not coming in. He will play the song that we’ve all heard over and over and over again. 'I want to do it. I’m going to get it done. I’m going to sit for it. I have nothing to fear. I’m innocent.' Blah, blah, blah. And we all know it’s absolutely untrue."

Cohen alleged that Trump will likely use the subpoena to solicit donations through fundraising emails.

"This is all part of the great economic grift that is the legacy of the Trump administration," Cohen said.

In December 2018, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to finance crimes and lying to Congress about Trump’s business dealings with Russia. He only served two and half years in prison doing part of his term in prison and the other under house arrest.

In 2019, Cohen told Congress of the Trump Organization strategy of manipulating its asset valuations for business and tax benefits.

Former President Donald Trump Friday dismissed the January 6 panel over a unilateral vote issuing a subpoena for him to testify as a “committee of highly partisan political hacks and thugs.”

Mr. Trump dismissed the work of the committee as a “charade and a Witch Hunt”.

On Thursday the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 violent siege at the U.S. Capitol unilaterally voted to issue a subpoena to Donald Trump to testify before the panel.

Responding in a 14-page statement issued Friday and dated Thursday 13th October 2022, Trump accused the Democrats of seeking to “destroy the lives of many hard-working American Patriots, whose records in life have been unblemished until this point of attempted ruination.”

Drawing parallels between “the double standard of the Unselects between what has taken place on the “RIGHT,” and what has taken place with Radical Left, lawless groups such as Antifa, Black Lives Matter, andothers,” the former President said it “is startling and will never be acceptable, even to those who will be writing the history of what you have done to America.”

Trump expressed “anger, disappointment, and complaint” with Congress for approving “the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on what many consider to be a Charade and Witch Hunt.”
