Authorities in Georgia arrested a teen who allegedly pulled a gun at a store clerk during an attempted robbery but dramatically removed his mask saying it was all a prank.

18-year-old Brandon McMahon attempted to rob Smoke Stars Vape shop wearing a mask in Canton, Georgia before suspending his operations, according to Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office investigators, Fox News reported.

Surveillance video showed the man pulling out a gun and then pointing it at the cashier and demanded for some unnamed products. He then started laughing and quickly told the clerk he was kidding before walking out of the store. He noted that the gun was just an airsoft gun and wasn’t real.

Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office disagreed that it was a joke. Authorities said the McMahon who is a student at Woodstock High School was charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

McMahon told police he was pulling a prank for a YouTube video.

"There's no other person there with him, no one was videotaping him, he does not have a YouTube channel as he states," Capt. Jay Baker told Fox 5.

The police also disagreed with the suspect that the gun was an airsoft gun as they found a .357 Magnum they suspect was sued in the operation when they searched his home.

"This was an actual armed robbery that he changed his mind about during the act and tried to downplay it and leave the scene," Baker said.
