The bodies of two kids have been recovered from a Minnesota Lake after they were declared missing but a third child is still missing, according to The Associated Press. Rescue efforts are ongoing to find the third missing child. The children are believed to have drowned in the lake. It is not clear what led to their drowning.
The incidence
happened on Friday morning when the mother of the children left with them. The woman
is still missing. The father of the children was found dead at a mobile home
park in the town of Maplewood, near Minneapolis hours earlier, according to The
Associated Press. .
The
Associated Press reported that Maplewood Police Lt. Joe Steiner said the
woman’s car was found near Vadnais Lake around 4 p.m. Friday. The shoes of the
children were found on the shore, the website added. After conducting a search
at the lake, one child’s body was found Friday evening while the second body
was found overnight. The mother was not found.
Police
believe the children were drowned intentionally, adding that all three children
were under the age of 5.
“There’s
nothing more tragic than the loss of young children,” Ramsey County Sheriff Bob
Fletcher said at a news conference on Friday, The Associated Press reported. He
called the deaths a “likely triple homicide.”
