Chris Evans is now People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, according to a Monday night announcement on Stephen Colbert’s late night show as well as on the magazine website.
The actor who
has played Captain America in Marvel’s superhero films is taking over from Paul
Rudd.
“My mom will
be so happy,” he said in the magazine’s cover story, The Associated Press
reported. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really
brag about.”
A number of
celebrities have been honored with the title including John Legend, Dwayne
Johnson, Idris Elba, Adam Levine, Richard Gere, Channing Tatum and David
Beckham, according to The Associated Press.
Evans first
featured in the 2000’s in the film “The New Comers” and also played superhero
Johnny Storm in two “Fantastic Four” films released in 2005 and 2007.
With the
release of “Captain America: The First Avenger,” he shot into prominence.
Evans also played the sadistic assassin trying to kill Reynolds in Nextflix’s “The Gray Man” which debuted this year. He also voiced the Buzz Lightyear Character in Pixar’s “Lightyear” film.
