Former President Donald Trump said Monday he plans to make a 2024 “big announcement” on November 15 at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Florida as he prepares to make a White House comeback.
At a
campaign night in Vandalia, Ohio 24 hours before the nation’s midterms, Mr.
Trump said:
“I’m going
to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Mar-a-Lago,” Trump
said, The Associated Press reported.
Trump’s announcement
was received with thundering cheers from his supporters who gathered for the
rally as he campaigned for GOP Senate candidate JD Vance.
The former President
noted that he did not want to “detract from the importance of tomorrow,”
invariably referring to the midterms.
Many in the
Republican camp including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she had hoped the
announcement came on Monday.
“I wish Pres
Trump announced last night in Ohio, but he chose to put everyone else first,”
Green wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
Greene
praised Trump’s efforts at hosting campaigns to bolster a number of Republican
candidates.
“He’s held
30 rallies in 17 states, hosted 43 telerallies & 52 candidate fundraisers,
& endorsed 285 candidates while being politically persecuted.”
“He’s put
everyone else first all along,” she said.
On Sunday
night in Miami, Trump said he “will probably have to do it again but stay tuned,”
according to The Associated Press. “Stay tuned to tomorrow night in the great
state of Ohio.”
Several
Trump allies had informed the former President to make any 2024 announcement
after Tuesday’s midterms to avoid turning the election into a referendum and to
avoid blames should the Republicans fail to win.
